JASR Jet Condensate Cooler

The ThermaFlo Engineering Model JASR Venturi Jet Blowdown Cooler accepts hot blowdown and condensate from boilers or other steam-using equipment to the inlet nozzle and uses the venturi jet kinetic energy of the cooling water to entrain and completely mix the hot and cold streams. This action cools the discharge to 140°F or lower so that it can be discharged to drains.
The JASR is fitted with a self-acting cooling water control valve that opens on temperature rise, sending pressurized cooling water through the converging nozzle at a high velocity, drawing in the hot liquid through the venturi mixer chamber and into the outlet discharge chamber. As the hot flow ceases, the valve modulates closed, only using cooling water when required.
Each JASR is fitted with an outlet bimetal thermometer in the outlet to monitor the discharge flow to an open atmospheric drain. In some cases, the outlet drain flow can be piped to an atmospheric tank for holding.
