Series 44 Float & Thermostatic Trap

The ThermaFlo Series 44 Float & Thermostatic Steam Trap is designed with a simple yet rugged construction to provide reliable condensate removal in a wide range of steam system applications. The trap consists of a body, cover, and float valve assembly, with the body and cover manufactured from durable cast iron. All internal working components are made from non-corrosive metals specifically selected for long service life and dependable performance in demanding steam service conditions.

The trap features highly sensitive thermostatic operation, achieved by charging the thermostatic disc under high vacuum. This design ensures accurate and responsive operation across the entire range of operating temperatures and pressures. The corrugations of the thermostatic disc are specially shaped to reduce hinge stress at the rim while evenly distributing disc movement, improving durability and maintaining consistent performance over time.

To ensure dependable condensate discharge, the Series 44 incorporates instantaneous valve action through its float valve assembly. This design allows the valve to respond rapidly and positively to changes in condensate levels, while its location within the trap maintains a deep water seal to prevent the loss of live steam. A lever-operated discharge valve opens wide to allow a continuous and rapid flow of condensate, enabling the trap to handle large volumes of water efficiently.

Each trap undergoes thorough testing to guarantee quality and performance. In addition to testing the completed trap assembly, every thermostatic disc is individually tested prior to installation. The Series 44 is also designed with ease of maintenance in mind. All internal working components can be inspected, removed, or serviced without disturbing the piping connections, and a convenient clean-out plug at the bottom of the trap body allows for quick flushing of dirt and debris from the system.
